Google Android Phone – More Choices Every Day

In the wake of AT&T’s release of the iPhone 4, Samsung announced Google Android phones for all three of AT&T’s major competitors: Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile.  AT&T continues to offer only the iPhone as its advances smart phone offering.

T-Mobile

All three Samsung phones are all built on Samsung’s Galaxy platform.  The Samsung Vibrant will be available through T-Mobile.  It has a full touch screen and T-Mobile will package the phone with the Kindle for Android application, GoGo Inflight Internet support, a Sims3 game, Avatar movie, MobiTV, and more.  It will be available on July 21 and retail for $199.99.

Verizon

The Samsung Fascinate is also a Google Android phone with a full touch screen and is available exclusively through Verizon Wireless.  Verizon includes, V CAST Music with Rhapsody, VZ Navigator, V CAST Tones, visual voicemail and V CAST Video on Demand.  With the exception of the installed software and available services it is nearly identical to the Samsung Vibrant from T-Mobile.

Sprint

The Sprint Epic will be available through Sprint and as with the aforementioned devices has a Galaxy S base.  This phone has a full sliding QWERTY keyboard and WinMAX radio.  Sprint will load the phone with their own goodies such as Sprint TV, Sprint Navigation, NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile, Sprint Football Live, and more.  Although pricing is not yet confirmed, it will most likely run in the $199 range as do most of the higher-end smart phones.  It is also rumored the device will be pre-loaded with Android 2.2.

With the addition of these devices to the Google Android market, consumers are finding they do not need to switch to AT&T to enjoy the features of high end smart phones.  Between these new phones and HTC’s and Motorola’s existing offerings there are plenty of Google Android devices from which to choose, no matter where your wireless carrier loyalty lies.
